Pre-Hispanic, Medium size, Copper, 25 x 27 cm.

Reproduction on oxidized copper plate of the pre-Hispanic motif.

The original stone sculpture dates back to the Mayan culture, around the year 591 AD.  An elegant ballplayer appears, his waist and hips protected, responding to the bounce of an oversized solid rubber ball. The balls currently used to play Ulama weigh around three kilos.
